Music is my first love.  Photography, a photo-finish second.

I have been a musician for my entire adult life. That's over 40 years of composing, playing, recording and performing. My interest in photography was kindled some 30+ years ago and has ridden shotgun on that journey ever since.  I feel like they are both part of my DNA sharing the same helix.

Whilst I am still shooting musicians and bands, I am also currently on a two year project capturing the independent and alternative entertainment scene in North Wales.  I am deliberately avoiding the larger commercial venues such as Venue Cymru Theatre, Theatre Colwyn, Theatre Clwyd, and Rhyl Pavilion as these tend to cater for the wider audiences that relish the glitz, glamour, and polish of mainstream productions, and instead, am giving preference to the smaller, less established ensembles that make up the backbone of the entertainment industry within the region.  Despite the miniscule budgets and lack of resources at their disposal, these grassroots-level outfits operate with the same degree of passion, drive, energy and skill as their more financially successful counterparts on the professional showbiz circuit.  The project will culminate with an exhibition of one hundred of the best shots taken during this period.

The energy and creativity generated and displayed by a live performance is a continuing challenge and adventure to capture.  Shooting artists in the throes of their passion is a crucible for atmosphere, drama and excitement.  What better way to spend an evening?

I have had my work featured in the following venues and publications:
